Making your own bodycare products is a rewarding way to have complete control over your ingredients, scent, texture, look, and feel. With a little practice and the right quality ingredients, you can make luxurious, premium products that rival even the best store-bought brands. These also make wonderful gifts!

DIY FACIAL CLEANSER

You can make gourmet facial cleansers and body scrubs simply by pairing essential oils with a few ingredients from your kitchen! Use one of the following recipes to get your skin clean and glowing.

Mix the following ingredients in a bowl. Massage into damp skin, then rinse.

DIY BODY MIST

Body mists are a refreshing way to distribute essential oils out over a greater surface area. To make a body mist, simply combine 10-20 total drops of essential oil with 4oz water in a spray bottle. Shake well before each use! You can add 1 tsp. vegetable glycerin or vodka to help emulsify the oils and water, if desired.

Outdoor Spray Recipe:

Combine the following in a small spray bottle. Shake well before each use, and spray on frequently. Caution: for very young children, reduce the amount of essential oils by half.

After-Sun Soother Recipe:

Combine the following in a small spray bottle. Shake well before each use.

Facial Rejuvenator Recipe:

Combine the following in a small spray bottle. Shake well before each use, close eyes, and gently mist face.

DIY FACIAL STEAM

Adding essential oils to hot water and letting the steam penetrate skin and open pores is a classic way to experience their purifying and clarifying benefits. To make your own facial steam, add 2-5 drops essential oils in a bowl of hot water, cover head and bowl with a towel, close eyes, and enjoy steam for 5-8 minutes.

Deep Pore Cleanser Recipe:

Combine the following in a bowl of hot water, and follow the directions above.

DIY CONCENTRATED TOPICAL BLENDS

Concentrated topical blends are potent formulas intended to be applied in very small amounts over a specific body area. To make your own, blend 50-60 total drops of essential oils with 1 oz carrier oil. Any fat-based oil (Jojoba, Macadamia, coconut, etc) can be used as a carrier oil in aromatherapy. Because essential oils are so concentrated, it is important to blend them with a carrier oil whenever they are used topically. Carrier oils help spread the essential oils out over a greater surface area, preventing possible skin irritation. They also help hold the essential oil onto the skin so it can be better absorbed before evaporating.

"Angry" Skin Soother Recipe:

Combine the following in a 1oz glass bottle:

Improve Appearance of Sun Spots Recipe:

Combine the following in a 1oz glass bottle. Dab a small amount over desired area.

Note: Lavender can be used as a "carrier oil" for some essential oils. For example, 1 drop Peppermint diluted in 3 drops Lavender for topical application.
